Shooting on location: being looked after

I had the pleasure this week of photographing a resort down the South Coast of KwaZulu Natal, Pumula Beach Hotel. It was a 2 day adventure where I was to capture as many aspects of the hotel experience as possible. Apart from God having blessed us with the most amazing weather in time for the shoot of a beach resort where we’re trying to showcase ‘fun in the sun’ and the weather really playing the part, there was such diversity in photographing a hotel of this nature.

Pumula Beach Hotel has been voted numerous times as the best family resort in South Africa and rightly so. It so caters for the family experience and, although the clientele residing in the hotel while I was photographing wasn’t completely family and young kids oriented, I fully got this feel about the resort. I’m looking forward to going back on a busy weekend when the place is teaming with vibrant kids where I’m wishing the the ‘Peter Pan’ effect really did exist!

Well the essence of my writings is to tell of the staff. Wow, these guys really love what they do. I was there as a “worker” but I could tell that this did not affect how they catered for my wishes. Being made to feel like a guest of the highest esteem. Even if the weather is not great when you go to Pumula for a beach holiday there are some amazing staff to get to know. There’s a friendly face waiting to greet you and make you feel at home. That’s what I’ve always commented when I’ve gone to a more family oriented resort is the way there’s less heir’s and graces about the place but more heart-felt commitment to increasing the overall experience of ‘being on holiday’.

Well done Pumula Beach Hotel. Hopefully I’ve been able to capture some of the friendliness of staff elements within the imagery.

Pumula friendly staff - always willing
