The Views of Pigeonwood

I had originally come across the architect, Hans Coetzee, a number or years ago when showcasing a home feature of a beautiful and grand residence in Mt Edgecombe Golf Estate No2. Subsequently, it has always been pleasing to hear, when arriving at a new location to shoot, that the design was by Hans. Well, in this case I have now had the privilege to be commissioned by Hans Coetzee directly on a sensational residential showcase, built by Pinnacle Homes, and what a joy to photograph, albeit with some curve-ball challenges!

On the first attempt to photograph this place there was an estate-wide power failure in Simbithi Golf Estate just after we started shooting, which lasted a little over 24hrs – such a shame as the skies were so dramatic that evening for a sensational backdrop, you’ll notice a 2 image spread that I snapped just before getting in the car to leave. Then when I returned 2 days later the weather looked rather ominous and the heavens opened right at that ‘perfect light’ time – 20 minutes after sunset – so I ducked for cover and then continued with the remainder of the interior elements. This house really was a gem to photograph and despite the challenges I was extremely happy with the image capture.

Two ways of getting to the upper elevation of this home.

An ecofire seperates the kitchen and dining area - loved it! Beautiful warmth.

Sea views right from the back of the kitchen prep area.

The 3rd outside entertainment area - this one sheltered from the wind on the inland side of the house.
