Right, I’ve been out of action with regards to posting info to this blog for a while and it’s for no other reason than just being slack and not giving it my attention. I got inspired to develop my blog writing by this home for the reason that will become apparent in a short while.
I was on location to shoot this beautiful home for SA Home Owner magazine. It is home that blends the exterior fully with in the interior within some amazing architectural design, and while being shown around the house before the shoot, the home owner pipes up and says that she had had the house photographed recently by a friend of hers and if we wished to use some of those photos we were welcome to do so. She mentioned it was shot by Dennis Guichard. That name didn’t ring a bell to me but once we were finished our tour of the house, I was due to start shooting when I asked to have a look at the pics that Dennis captured. Well, was I surprised in such amazement as to how this photographer had captured the home in such a dramatic way. This set the benchmark for me and I set about my work trying to emulate or at least match the quality of Dennis’ photography while still maintaining the essence of what the SA Home Owner required in capturing what the home was all about. It all went fairly well and I think I was able to capture some good imagery of the home as you’ll notice below.
Further to this I came home and told my wife about this masterpiece of a home as well as the experience of having seen some great photography by Dennis Guichard. I looked him up online, found his website and his blog and noticed that’d he’d also posted about his shooting experience of House Leonard but he didn’t seem to choose what I thought were his best pics within the post as I’d seen some better ones – I always find it facinating how we all interpret the scene and the results of our capture differently as photograhers. I enjoyed the way he spoke of this home on his blog post and this has now gotten me inspired to keep my writing current and share of my experiences continually as I grow to become one of Durban’s top Architectural & Interior Photographers.
Oh my word – what a beautiful house!
