Here are some of the images from my time on commission to capture the new Durban offices of Edward Nathan Sonnenbergs, Africa’s largest law firm. Who wouldn’t want to come to work every day in a place such a this – truly spectacular and an honor to the architects.
The ENS offices are in the building adjacent to the new Durban premises for Investec, whose building was the first to be occupied in the new Ridgeside Commercial complex on La Lucia Ridge in Durban. The Investec premises has intrigued me greatly since it’s staff took occupation a few month ago and this is why! Have a look next time you drive past along the M41 from Gateway after sunset – it comes alive at night and is so sensational – hopefully showcasing this aspect here within these select few. I love the effect that storm clouds give to the backdrop of an architectural structure in the twilight.
Hey Grant….. Absolutely beautiful! From the architecture to the capturing of it’s details and curves. Well done! I am still blown away at how you have an ability to cupture the architectural elements that make a building so special without having an architectural background. Without that ability, one might capture a great building and simply portray it as “nice”, as opposed to great. You have really done these buildings justice.
I do often drive past them and oogle at the architecture on display, but I have never seen the elements that you have captured. And believe it or not, his makes me proud to be South African, because having read through many a contempory modern architecture, these are the types of building seen in international books and magazines, and it is inspiring to see that we not only have the skill and the talent, but the money to build architectural beauts. Very cool.
Wow Mike, that is wonderful feedback, thank you. Indeed the architecture is superb and a pleasure to capture.
Hey Grant,
Awesome photo’s!
What Lens & settings did you use to capture the indoor shot? Thats my favorite one, the angle, lighting and use space in the photo is AMAZING!
These shots are world class man!
Wow you really captured these buildings perfectly. The clean lines, angles and perfect exposures are something to see. Well done Grant.
