Architecture of the Pacific Northwest

During the months of June and July of 2014 I, together with my family, had the luxury and privilege of traveling to one of the world’s most beautiful areas in the Pacific Northwest incorporating our stops of Seattle and Alaska in the United States of America and Vancouver and Victoria on Vancouver Island on the West Coast of Canada.

Apart from the great expanse of beauty that surrounds the region in the mountains, forests, natural lakes, river estuaries and Pacific Ocean, there is some pretty spectacular architecture for one to feast an architectural photographer’s eyes on too! Though the weather did not play its part in Seattle or Vancouver, I felt that I certainly did maximize my time I had available to capture cityscapes that are quite sensational and so different to those that we would experience in Africa. My goal was to showcase that cityscape as whole rather than focus in on specific structures in order to capture the essence of the city and the beauty it has to offer. Traveling the world as an architectural photographer opens up such opportunity for some diverse image capture of unique structures and incredible skylines.

Enjoy a sneak peak into what I was able to experience in the Pacific Northwest.

The last rays of sunlight, at around 8:30pm in the summer, illuminating the tall structures of the downtown Seattle. Columbia Center standing proud in the middle with Mt Rainier just peeking out the clouds in the distance.

The Seattle Public Library. Can you believe such architectural detail can be included into a public place to house books! Truly sensational and our accommodation was one block from here.
